Huston-Tillotson University’s Homecoming 2015 Basketball Game Scheduled on Saturday

Posted By: Huston-Tillotson University on January 30, 2015 (AUSTIN, Texas) 1.30.15 — Graduates and ex-students from the institutions that make up Huston-Tillotson University are invited to celebrate Homecoming 2015 during the Saturday, Feb. 7 basketball game, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Mary E. Branch Gymnasium, 900 Chicon Street. Huston-Tillotson University, with roots dating to 1875, evolved from Tillotson College, Samuel Huston College, and Huston-Tillotson College. The annual homecoming celebration features a week of student and alumni activities, ranging from a pep rally to on-campus tailgating. A brief Homecoming 2015 schedule is as follows. Alumni Worship Service Thursday, Feb. 5 11 a.m. – Noon King-Seabrook Chapel Chapel might have been mandatory when you were on campus. Today, students freely maintain their religious connection through weekly chapel with its praise, worship, and preaching. Alumni will be lead this service. Plan to attend. Campus Tours Thursday, Feb. 5 3 p.m – 4 p.m. HT Campus A few things have changed since your last visit to HT. The Downs-Jones Library now has a coffee shop. Both Allen-Frazier and Beard-Burrowes Residence Halls have been completely renovated with open spaces, work-out rooms, upgraded laundry and bathrooms, and more. You’ll only be able to say, “OMG” when you see the upgrade. Plan to video and post your first reaction. Don’t forget to stop by Ram’s Place for HT merchandise. Finally, Friday is still catfish Friday with all-that-you-care-to-eat. Alumni Career Presentation Friday, Feb. 6 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. HT Campus Let current HT students see your success. Plan to visit with students to share career advice, tips, and more. Branch Gymnasium Cheerleaders, dance team, and the basketball team will be on hand for this pep rally. Calling all Greeks to strut and stroll. Everyone is invited to cheer for HT and the Rams. Cook Off/Tailgating Saturday, Feb. 7 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. HT Campus DJ Hella Yella will pump up the music while you gather with your classmates for a day of reminiscing while you sample the barbecue from the alumni cook off. Branch Gymnasium Place yourself in the middle of the excitement during both men's and women's basketball games against Paul Quinn College. Remember, the women are the Red River Athletic Conference Champions—A first in HT history. Witness the crowning of the new Mr. and Miss Homecoming King and Queen in between the two games. Tickets for the Feb. 7 homecoming basketball game are $20 for general admission; $10 for students with identification; $5 for children 6-12.
