Posted By: Frederick Roberts on December 29, 2005 The Mr. Collegiate African American Scholarship Pageant is now accepting application for candidates for the 2006 pageant set for April 5-9 in Houston, with the finals on April 8 at Prairie View A&M University. The pageant is in its thirteenth year and is opened to Black men the ages of 18-28 who are enrolled in four-year colleges and universities. The pageant, the first of its kind for College Men, was created in 1990 to empower Black college men and to counteract the negative imagery of the them as perpetuated in the society. The candidates compete for scholarship in prizes and the opportunity to represent the international program throughout the world. The competition includes: Private Interview with Judges, Personal Platform (Oratory), Talent, Formal Attire and Onstage Interview and Question.
