VUU announces Founders Day speaker

Shaw, President of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. will serve as speaker for Virginia Union University’s annual Founders Day. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Coburn Hall on Friday, February 3, 2006. For nearly 50 years, Dr. Shaw has served as Pastor of the White Rock Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Recognized as a religious leader on local, state, and national levels, Dr. Shaw has served as President of the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention, Inc., as well as Director of the Ministers’ Division of the National Congress of Christian Education. Dr. Shaw was valedictorian of his high school class at the age of 16. He continued his love of learning throughout this life, graduating summa cum laude from Bishop College at the age of 19. Dr. Shaw earned his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Colgate Rochester Divinity School in Rochester, New York in 1975.
