Why?

Why?
Posted By: KORENE JONES on January 02, 2006

Hey everyone, i was just sitting here thinking: Why do we only celebrate black history during the month of Febuary while other races celebrate year round? I know people have asked this question before but, i want to know your opinion. Because i know i'm black 24/7, 365 days a year and my heritage deserves to not only be acknowledged in Febuary but celebrated year round.

i would say that the only reason why we dont put effort into celebrating all year long is becuase Feb. was the month designated for us. Because we were raised to know that Feb. was "our month" thats the only time that we actually put for the effort to celebrate our culture and heritage. But i totally agree with what you are saying... I was raised to celebrate my culture at any time and with any chance i get... Thanks for making me think this early!

Thats a great question. Why do we get only one month out of the year to remember those african americans who came before us and had an impact on america? And,coincedentally, why do we get the shortest month out of the year. Im not going to stop being black from march-january, we need a black history era instead of a month. something like the golden age,or the ice age, or something like one of those periods.
