The following positions are open and we invite you to take a look at these opportunities and apply according to your qualifications. - Vice President of Student Affairs - Director of College Relations - Chief of Public Safety and Emergency Management Administration - Mathematics Faculty (A Full-Time, Temporary position) The Vice President for Student Affairs, Director of College Relations, and Chief of Public Safety and Emergency Management Administration begin on July 1, 2015. The full consideration date for applications and application materials is May 10, 2015. The position teaching Mathematics begins on August 17, 2015. The full consideration date for applications and application materials is May 1, 2015. The Vice President for Student Affairs is under the general direction of the college President and directs and oversees the Student Affairs programs of the College. The Vice President coordinates the activities of Counseling and Health Services; Enrollment Services; Intercollegiate and Intramural Athletics, the office of Access, Equity, and Diversity; Recruitment and Outreach; Registrar Services; Student Development; Student Life; and Student Success. The Vice President acts as a principal adviser to the President.
The Director of College Relations reports to the Vice President for Technology and Data Analytics and is responsible for developing and executing a public relations and marketing strategy that raises institutional visibility and promotes the College to its various stakeholders. Leading all college activities relating to external and internal communications, the Director oversees marketing, advertising, media and legislative relations, community relations, publications, website and social media, and major college events to advance the programs and services of the College. The Director serves as the key spokesperson for the College and manages crisis communications.
The Chief of Public Safety and Emergency Management Administration is under the general administrative supervision of the Vice President for Business and Finance/Chief Financial Officer and directs and oversees all police, fire, and emergency management activities and responsibilities at Oakton Community College. The Chief acts as Oakton's Clery Coordinator. People who work, study and visit Oakton, as well as property, buildings, equipment and grounds are protected by actions directed by the Chief. The Chief prepares budgets, hires and trains department personnel, creates successful partnerships, both on campus and off, sufficient to ensure the ethical and professional delivery of all services. Independent judgment is exercised by the Chief and discretion used on confidential matters. The Chief promotes a strategy of community policing while working together with College persons and groups in an atmosphere of open, professional collaboration.
The College seeks Mathematics faculty who desire and are able to teach the range of Mathematics courses from Prealgebra to mathematics courses that satisfy the general education courses for the bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics, or in Mathematics Education with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours completed in Mathematics is required. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and having a sensitivity to the dynamics of differences in race, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, national origin and other types of cultural difference is preferred.
Oakton expects professional competence, strong leadership qualities, professional development participation, and institutional and departmental service from faculty and administrators. Prior undergraduate teaching experience is preferred.
