Fisk University Board of Trustees Names New Members

The Fisk University Board of Trustees named Patty Litton Delony, Cynthia R. McIntyre, and Rashaun Williams to the Board during its recent meetings. 

Patty Litton Delony of Chicago, Illinois was named at the February meeting and was the owner and principal of Delony Associates, an independent consulting firm that specialized in business research, analysis, and writing, for 25 years until her retirement in 2012.  Before establishing Delony Associates in 1987, she was a vice president of Sara Lee Corporation, with responsibility, first, for investor relations and, then, for strategic planning and acquisitions for a group of the corporation’s operating divisions. Earlier in her career, she was a securities analyst, portfolio manager, and economist for the investment counseling subsidiary of a major Southeastern bank.

A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Mrs. Delony attended Nashville public schools and Harpeth Hall School. She earned an undergraduate degree in economics from Duke University and an MBA in finance from Georgia State University, where she received an award for the highest academic average. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has completed Harvard Business School's Strategic Marketing Management program.

Mrs. Delony has served on not-for-profit boards, including the Midwest Women’s Center, The Three Arts Club of Chicago, and Arts Bridge.  She also served on the board of The Kenwood Funds. Professional memberships include the Chicago Finance Exchange and the Economic Club of Chicago.

Dr. Cynthia R. McIntyre, a theoretical matter physicist, of Washington, DC, was named to the Board at the May meeting.  She is Senior Vice President at the Council on Competiveness, a non-partisan, non-governmental organization (NGO) that is dedicated to developing public policy recommendations to enhance American competitiveness by creating new domestic jobs in the U.S.  Her responsibilities include leading the High Performance Computing (HPC) Initiative, which involves developing policies to enhance the use of HPC in the private sector for greater economic return and competitive advantage.  As a result of these efforts, the Council was asked by the White House to create and lead a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to help small and medium-size manufacturers in the Midwest to use HPC modeling and simulation.  The PPP is known as the National Digital Engineering and Manufacturing Consortium (NDEMC).

Prior to arriving at the Council, Dr. McIntyre was Chief of Staff to the President and Associate Vice President of Policy and Planning at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, from 1999 to 2007.  In that capacity, she had executive oversight and management of Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer, and New Ventures.  She grew licensing revenue from $45,000 to $1.2 million in five years, and hopes to work with Fisk faculty and administrators to achieve a similar outcome.  She will also help to enhance the University’s domestic and international study and research opportunities.
