Posted By: How May I Help You NC on August 14, 2015 Author: Dana Williams Vandiver Release Date: Aug 10, 2015 ASU’s John Garrick Hardy Student Center ballroom was a vision in roses, crystals and tulle, as nearly 50 young girls enjoyed a day fit for royalty during the “Princess in Training Camp.” *** A trail of pink rose petals created a winding path through ASU’s John Garrick Hardy Student Center on Saturday, Aug. 8, leading dozens of girls up to the ballroom for the inaugural “Princess in Training Camp.” The event, hosted by Miss ASU and Court, was held to help girls ages four to 13 develop etiquette and manners and strengthen self-awareness and self-confidence. Participants rotated to various stations where they mingled with new friends, created decorative crowns and tiaras, enjoyed lunch and soaked up lessons about inner beauty. Each girl was introduced on the stage at the end of the event and took home a princess sash, wand and special certificate. Candace Davis signed up her daughter Aleigha as soon as she heard about the princess camp. She said the event exceeded her expectations. “This is wonderful. Miss ASU and Court did a very good job, and this is a little one’s dream come true.” Five-year-old Aleigha said she couldn’t agree more. “I’m so excited I’m a princess,” she said. “I feel excited and I feel pretty. I liked going up on the stage and having a sash and a wand; I liked doing the crown. I love being a princess!” Kentrice Dukes, 9, said she did not want the day to end. “I love being in things like this. I had so much fun meeting new friends and making my crown,” she said. “(Miss ASU and Court) were fun and fantastic. We had so much fun, I just want to stay!” For Miss ASU 2015-16, Muriel Pannell, spending time with the girls was both fun and fulfilling. Continued: http://www.alasu.edu/news/news-details/ind...
