World Renowned Vocalist and Educator, Jolie Rocke Brown, Joins Texas Southern University Staff

Professional vocalist Jolie Rocke Brown, a soprano, has joined the TSU faculty as a visiting professor of Music for the fall semester. Committed to passing on her passion for performance technique by educating future generations, Rocke Brown will be teaching voice lessons, opera workshop, fine arts and daily living, as well as working with Department of Music Interim Chair Dr. Jason Oby on developing an outreach recruitment program to high school students.

Rocke Brown’s classical music training includes an undergraduate degree in music from the University of Hartford’s Hartt School, graduate work at Loyola College, and doctoral studies at the University of Connecticut.  She is known for her soul-stirring renditions of hymns, spirituals, gospel and jazz that linger with audiences far beyond the vibrations of the last note.
