HBCUgrow Welcomes Dr. Ivory Toldson as Leadership Keynote
Posted By: How May I Help You NC on October 20, 2015

Raleigh, NC – HBCUgrow is pleased to welcome Dr. Ivory A. Toldson, executive director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), as the keynote speaker for the group’s November 10 conference on leadership, marketing/branding and enrollment management. The full day event will be held at Shaw University in Raleigh.

“Many HBCUs are struggling today with budget and enrollment challenges,” says Jeanne Frazer, president of vitalink® and a founding partner of HBCUgrow. “Strong leaders are needed to turn the tide. We’re very excited to have Dr. Toldson join us from the White House Initiative on HBCUs to share his thoughts on leading these historic universities into the future. We invite all HBCUs, universities and community colleges to join us at Shaw on November 10th.” The event will also feature Dr. Jeffrey Robinson of Rutgers University; Laura Jack of Howard University; Dr. Michael J. Sorrell, president of Paul Quinn College; Dwayne Shorter from Huston-Tillotson; Dr. Kim Long of Wiley College; Dr. Tashni Dubroy, president of Shaw University; and Valonda Calloway of NBC’s My Carolina Today. “The higher education landscape is changing and HBCUs must work harder to connect with a prospective body of students that is traditionally under served,” says Dr. Toldson, “Leadership is crucial for these universities to survive and thrive.

I am pleased to speak at the HBCUgrow conference and share my thoughts on making the future brighter for HBCUs.” Toldson was appointed by President Barack Obama to devise national strategies to sustain and expand federal support to HBCUs, as the executive director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. He is currently on leave from his position as full professor at Howard University.
