Posted By: Will Moss on March 25, 2005

Did you know that The Cafe on HBCUConnect.com is one of the internet's most popular and active message boards? A recent study done by leading African American news website BlackNews.com rated the HBCUConnect.com message board as definitely being in the top 100 most active on the internet and interestingly enough The Cafe leads the pack as the #1 most active message board on an African American owned and operated website.

Also the study yielded some interesting facts concerning the state of black owned websites on the internet.

As many of the top websites that blacks visit appear to be owned by African American's on the surface, but upon deeper investigation, many of these sites are owned and operated by non-blacks.

Topping the list are the following key African American web destinations:

1. BlackPlanet.com - Owned and started by non-black company
2. BET.com - Owned by Viacom, non-black company
3. BlackVoices.com - Owned by AOL.com, non-black company
4. BlackAmericaWeb.com - Radio One (public company)
5. HBCUConnect.com - 100% African American owned/operated
6. BlackNews.com - 100% African American owned/operated
