Bernie Sanders makes HBCU stop ahead of Democratic Primary
|
Posted By: Will Moss on February 28, 2016 FEATURED Content Despite early polling numbers, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has been working hard in South Carolina to sway more voters to his campaign ahead of Saturday’s Democratic primary. Sanders made stops on Friday in both Columbia and Orangeburg, two critical areas where democratic votes are typically high. At Claflin University, Sanders talked education funding and criminal justice reform. He also made mention of his challenger Hillary Clinton and her stance on the death penalty in America. "You gotta look at the record, here's the record: I do not have a Super PAC. I do not get millions of dollars from Wall Street. I don't get huge sums of money from corporate America. I do not believe in the death penalty, too many innocent people have died. My opponent believes in the death penalty, I do not,” Senator Sanders said. Sanders got a lot of support at Claflin. He was joined by state representative Justin Bamberg, rapper Killer Mike and Erica garner the daughter of a NY man who died while in police custody.
