Texas Southern University's Doctor of Pharmacy program earns continued accreditation
|
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on March 16, 2016 The Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) Doctor of Pharmacy program has earned continued accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Board of Directors. In ACPE’s focused on-site evaluation, COPHS was found to be compliant with all ACPE standards and partially compliant with faculty and staff—quantitative factors. The ACPE Board of Directors noted the positive changes in the admission criteria for students applying to the professional doctor of pharmacy program (PharmD) and anticipated implementation of plans for an updated “student success plan” and “peer assessment of instruction (PAI) initiative”. These changes will be fully executed for the Fall 2016 semester and show preliminary improvement in progression, graduation, and ultimately national licensure exam pass rates. The accreditation term affirmed for the Doctor of Pharmacy professional program extends until June 30, 2020.
