Alabama State University Hosts "Spring Sting" - with Donnie McClurkin, Kandi Burress, and Deitrick Haddon

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on March 21, 2016 Alabama State University hosts a week of activities and events for students & the public during its first-ever “Spring Sting-16.” Free & Open to the Public Alabama State University will host its first-ever “Spring Sting-16” from March 28, to April 2, which is free with most events open to the public (free public events are highlighted in yellow below). The weeklong series of events offers an opportunity for people to “ring in spring” by celebrating campus and community life through educational, social, cultural, spiritual and health and wellness activities. A THREE TIME GRAMMY AWARD WINNER TUESDAY “Spring Sting” includes a public event hosted by nationally acclaimed three-time Grammy Award winning gospel singer Donnie McClurkin; to a “chat and chew” with music and reality TV personality, Kandi Burress; to a gospel concert featuring well respected singer Deitrick Haddon. The celebration will culminate on Saturday, April 2, when the Hornet football team kicks off a spring practice at The ASU Stadium, which is free. “Spring Sting” is sponsored by the Division of ASU Student Affairs, Office of Student Life, Campus Activities Board, Campus Programming Board, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Office of Housing and Residence Life, Dr. William Ashbourne and Music Industry students. Complete schedule: Monday, March 28 “Spring…Black & Gold Style” Residence Hall Lobby Decorating Contest Decorating starts at 8 a.m., and must be complete by 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 31. Recognition and prizes will be awarded to the best decorated male and female residence halls. “Spring Sting Talent Show!” Doors Open: 6:30 p.m. Start: 7:00 p.m. Abernathy Auditorium Tuesday, March 29 “ASU Chat and Chew!” w/ TV star Kandi Burress Doors Open: 10:45 am Start: 11 a.m. Abernathy Auditorium “A Campus and Community Spiritual Lecture” featuring Pastor Donnie McClurkin, Senior Pastor of Perfecting Faith Church Doors Open: 6 p.m. Start: 6:30 p.m. Dunn-Oliver Acadome (lower section) Wednesday, March 30 “Noontime Health and Wellness Walk with the President” Start: noon Meet in Front of Councill Hall Please join President Gwendolyn E. Boyd, and other faculty, staff and students, as she walks the campus at noon. “All-Greek Stroll Off!” Doors Open: 6:30 p.m. Start: 7 p.m. Dunn-Oliver Acadome Thursday, March 31 “ASU Academic Fair!” Start: 11 a.m. Hardy Student Center (Ballrooms B&C) “ASU Turn Up!” w/ D.J.
