NCCU Alumnus to Lead Mount St. Joseph University

James Williams has been appointed to serve as the seventh president of Mount St. Joseph University, a liberal arts Catholic university in Cincinnati, Ohio. Prior to joining Mount St. Joseph University. Williams served as president of Fisk University in Nashville from 2013 until 2015. He also served on the board of directors for Community Health Systems, located in Franklin, Tenn. Williams was previously a dean and professor at business schools, including Seidman College of Business of Grand Valley State University; NCCU School of Business; and Delaware State University School of Management. He also held faculty positions at the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown University. In 2015, he visited NCCU, where he was the first speaker at NCCU School of Business’s Distinguished Speaker Series. Williams obtained his B.S. in accounting from North Carolina Central University and MBA in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also earned a doctorate in accounting from the University of Georgia. Williams earned a Juris Doctor degree and a Master of Laws (L.L.M) from Georgetown University Law Center. Williams currently serves on the Middle Tennessee Council of Boy Scouts of America. He also is a member of the Barefoot Republic Camp and Retreat Center Board of Advisors and the education advisory council of the National Museum of African-American Music.
