Posted By: How May I Help You NC on May 03, 2016 April marked another month of achieve-ments for the University. Here are just a few: CDU welcomed new Deans Dr. Hec-tor G. Balcazar and Dr. Deborah C. Pro-throw-Stith to the College of Science and Health and College of Medicine respec-tively. The Accreditation Review Com-mission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) acted to grant the PA Program “Accreditation-Provisional.” The program remains on course to matricu-late its first cohort of students in August 2016. The University regained its eligibility to participate in the Cal Grant financial aid program. The California Student Aid Commission notified the University that it has been provisionally approved for participation for the 2016-17 academic year. The Board of Trustees approved the 2016/17 budget. The budget includes a 2% merit increase – except for key exec-utives (effective January 1, 2017) and an increase in the retirement contribution of 1%; from 6% to 7% effective July 1, 2016. In keeping with the University’s goal to increase undergraduate enrollment, the University entered into an agreement with the Los Angeles Unified School Dis-trict (LAUSD) to establish a joint educa-tion program and collaboration in areas of interest and benefit to both institu-tions. This is the second collaboration for CDU. The first agreement was estab-lished with West Los Angeles College. The 4th Annual Legacy Leaders Spring Gala was held on April 14th. I would like to thank each of you who attended, vol-unteered or who helped to make the event an overwhelming success. April culminates with a salute to Admin-istrative Professionals (April 27th). To the many CDU Administrative Professionals, I commend you for performing one of the most important jobs there is at the University. Without your hard work and dedicated spirit, it would be difficult for us to operate efficiently and effectively.
