Succeeding Thomas Bliley, Scott assumed office of the U.S. House of Representatives from Virginia’s 3rd district in 1993. Serving as the Ranking Member on the Committee on Education and the Workforce since he came into office, he has made sure that all Americans have access to quality education, make a livable wage, and has worked hard to dismantle the School-to-Prison pipeline. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and has been recognized in the Capitol Hill newspaper, The Hill, as one of the 25 hardest working Members of Congress.
