FAMU alum wins Rangel Fellowship

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on May 10, 2016 Clarece Polke, a Florida A&M University alum, was recently awarded a 2016 Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship. Established by Congressman Charles B. Rangel and managed by Howard University, the Rangel Fellowship supports talented individuals who want to pursue careers as Foreign Service officers with the U.S. Department of State. The fellowship will help sponsor Polke’s graduate studies over a two-year period and give her the opportunity to represent the U.S overseas. She was one of only 30 fellows selected from a pool of more than 400 applicants nationwide. Polke, who turns 25 Wednesday, said she was entering New York City on a Megabus in late March when she got the email announcing her acceptance. “I couldn’t believe it,” she said Monday from Washington. “I woke the whole bus up."
