Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on May 13, 2016

The Allen University Athletic Department has planned a dynamic series of athletic skills and fundamental camps this summer. The three sports are Basketball, Wrestling, and Volleyball.

The Basketball Camp (June 6th-9th 7:30am – 11:30am, for boys and girls ages, 7-16) will focus on fundamental skill development in a fun environment led by Head Men's Basketball Coach Nelson Jones and Head Women's Basketball Coach Jason James. Campers will learn to apply those skills in game time situations. The campers will enjoy some fun contests and learn the proper mindset for young athletes to prepare themselves for playing multiple sports. This is a great opportunity for campers to improve their talent, build character, teamwork and leadership skills. The camp fee is $125 per camper and the registration period is May 15th - June 3rd. Please request a registration form via email at jjames@allenuniversity.edu or njones@allenuniversity.edu.

The Wrestling Camp (AUWP) is a comprehensive training program designed to better the athlete in every facet of the match. Led by Head Men’s Wrestling Coach Robert Hemingway, and his staff, campers learn a blended style of wrestling that teaches them many techniques. Campers learn to use their legs for both defense and offense in conjunction with riding, pinning, takedowns and escapes. All of these skill are needed to compete not just at the high school level but at the college level as well.

In addition to wrestling techniques campers also learn the value of nutrition in fueling their body. Our Youth Camp (June 14th 7:30am – 5:00pm, for boys ages 6-13) focuses on technique and acquiring the skills to compete. The youth Camp fee is $50 per camper and the registration period is May 15th – June 13th. The High School Overnight Camp (June 21st-22nd, for boys ages 14-18) focuses on preparing the athlete for the next level by teaching advanced techniques and skills to win using Folk, Greco, and Freestyle wrestling. The High School Overnight Camp fee is $200 per camper and the registration period is May 15th – June 20th. Please request a registration form via email at rhemingway@allenuniversity.edu.

Volley Tots Volleyball Camp (July 11th – 14th 6:00pm – 8:00pm, for boys and girls ages 4-10) is a camp for beginner volleyball players. Led by Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Tiffane Jackson, campers will learn listening skills, hand-eye coordination, learning various motor skills, and an overall introduction to volleyball techniques. The camp fee is $60 per camper and the registration period is May 15th – July 8th. Please request a registration form via email at tjackson@allenuniversity.edu.
