Looking for exciting and challenging opportunity? Become a Chief Diversity Officer at Brandeis University.

Posted By: Hija Chang on May 18, 2016 Brandeis University seeks nominations and applications for the University’s inaugural Chief Diversity Officer. Reporting to the President, the Chief Diversity Officer will collaborate deeply with faculty, staff, and students to move the University from aspiration to actualization on issues of diversity and inclusion. Review of applications will begin on June 16, 2016, and will continue until the position is filled. Brandeis is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is one of the country’s youngest private research universities. Located in Waltham, MA, on 235 acres, Brandeis is the only nonsectarian Jewish-sponsored college or university in the country. The University’s total student enrollment is just over 5,000, with undergraduates comprising three-quarters of that number. Its student body is very diverse with 22 percent of students being American students of color and 20 percent being international. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced diversity leader who has a documented history of successfully developing and advancing diversity programs within their field. The campus is ripe for a collaborative leader who can build upon current diversity efforts and develop a clear vision and strategy for moving the campus forward. The University seeks candidates whose personal and professional experiences reflect a commitment to and knowledge of the higher education landscape and one who is steeped in the research and literature of diversity science. The Chief Diversity Officer will have significant responsibility for shaping and developing the diversity department at Brandeis in both staffing and resources. Areas for which the Chief Diversity Officer will be responsible include Title IX, Ombudsman, and Multifaith Chaplaincy in addition to serving as the chief spokesperson for diversity efforts. The Chief Diversity Officer will also work closely with the Vice President for Human Resources, especially with training search committee diversity representatives. For fullest consideration, applicant materials should be received by June 10, 2016. Candidates should provide a letter of application that addresses the responsibilities and requirements described in the Leadership Statement; Curriculum Vitae, and the names and contact information of five references. Additional information is available at www.wittkieffer.com. References will not be contacted without prior knowledge and approval of candidates. These materials should be sent electronically via e-mail to the Brandeis University’s consultants, Oliver Tomlin and Charlene Aguilar at BrandeisCDO@wittkieffer.com. Documents that must be mailed may be sent to Witt/Kieffer, 2015 Spring Road, Suite 510, Oak Brook, IL 60523. The consultants may be reached by telephone care of Laura Novak at 630-575-6943. Brandeis University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and encourages minorities, women, disabled individuals, and eligible veterans to apply. It is the policy of the University not to discriminate against any applicant or employee on the basis of race, ancestry, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, genetic information, national origin, disability, veteran status, gender identity and expression, or on the basis of any other legally protected category.
