International Board on Global Food Security to Convene at N.C. A&T

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on May 19, 2016 Members of the presidentially appointed Board for International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD) will converge at North Carolina A&T State University, May 18-20. The board comprised primarily of food policy advisers and specialists representing the academic community, will focus on the theme of “Collaboration: Leadership, Innovation and Sustainable Technology to Meet the Demands of Global Agriculture.” As the chief administrator of N.C. A&T, which was founded as an agricultural and mechanical school, Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. serves on the international board. A&T has a vested interest in the global impact of sustained agriculture and its systems. Through its Agricultural Research Program, the university’s School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (SAES) conducts organized research sponsored in part by the Department of Agriculture that impacts citizens around the world. SAES has extensive expertise in areas such as biotechnology, agricultural and biosystems engineering, natural resources management, waste management, and food microbiology.
