Grambling State interim athletics director Obadiah Simmons confirmed the move in an email sent to HBCU Sports Wednesday. “Officially, I can confirm that Coach Damond has submitted her letter of resignation to the President dated for June 17, 2016,” Simmons stated. “A formal announcement from the Athletic Department will be released soon.” Multiple sources have confirmed that Domond has accepted an assistant coaching position at Rutgers. However, the New Jersey based school has yet to make an official announcement. Domond, named GSU head coach in 2014, earned the SWAC Coach of the Year award for the 2015-16 season after leading the Lady Tigers to their best win-loss record (17-14, 13-5 SWAC) in six-plus years.
