Huston-Tillotson University Establishes Transfer Agreement with The California Community Colleges

Huston-Tillotson University Establishes Transfer Agreement with The California Community Colleges
Posted By: Huston-Tillotson University on June 24, 2016

(AUSTIN, TX) 6.24.16 — Huston-Tillotson University officials have signed an agreement with The California Community Colleges, the largest system of higher education in the nation composed of 72 districts and 113 colleges serving 2.1 million students per year, to enroll students interested in furthering their education at a Historically Black College or University. HT, the westernmost four-year HBCU and closest in proximity to California, established a partnership whereby junior-level community college students and their transferrable credits would gain enrollment acceptance upon meeting the necessary requirements.

“Combining the students’ desire to attend a HBCU, HT’s nurturing environment, small class sizes, vibrant and healthy job market location in Austin, and a long experience educating transfer students make the partnership attractive to all parties involved,” said HT Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Archie Vanderpuye.

Under the transfer agreement, the HT core curriculum (general education) requirements are waived for transfer students who have obtained an associate’s degree with a 2.5 grade point average or higher. In addition, students are also guaranteed admission by completing 30 or more transferrable credits with a 2.5 GPA or higher.

As a historically black institution located in Austin, Texas, Huston-Tillotson University’s mission is to nurture a legacy of leadership and excellence in education, connecting knowledge, power, passion, and values. The University offers associate and master’s degrees in addition to Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in more than 19 areas of study. Discover HT at www.htu.edu.
