Looking for a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator in Chicago Area

Posted By: Will Moss on July 07, 2016 FEATURED Content Community District 308 is looking for a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator who will serve as a change agent for advancing the development and implementation of initiatives in support of the Board-approved Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with other members of the Human Resources Department and Teaching and Learning Department to create a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for diverse students, faculty, and staff. Hours: 20 hours a week, with availability to work some evenings and weekends to participate in diversity events. Specific Responsibilities: 1. Coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive set of programs focusing on diversity, cultural sensitivity, equity, and inclusiveness. 2. Compiles data on activities and creates assessments for programs to ensure continued improvement. 3. Prepares and disseminates information on diversity related initiatives, activities and outcomes. 4. Researches and shares diversity, equity and inclusion related data, efforts, trends and innovations. 5. Develops collaborative relationships to ensure the involvement of staff, students, and community partners to enhance the understanding of diversity and multicultural competence among all the stakeholders. 6. Sets goals for increasing applicant diversity, and identifies new diversity recruitment initiatives that will generate a pool of highly-qualified diverse applicants. 7. Implements a targeted recruitment and staffing plan/program to increase the overall pool of diverse applicants for all areas. 8. Designs systems to make direct contacts with student teachers of color and administrative candidates of color in order to assist in their development and encourage employment commitment to District 308. 9. Identifies and eliminates barriers for recruiting/hiring diverse candidates through data collection and analysis and use this data to implement process improvements. 10. Designs and coordinates various promotional events, such as job fairs, community outreach programs, and school-based vocational programs in support of the targeted recruitment and retention objectives. 11. Benchmarks with industry and other government agencies to identify how they attract and recruit a diverse candidate pool. 12. Fosters existing contacts and establishes new relationships with diversity representatives at schools, university/college organizations, professional organizations, business leaders, etc. 13. Directs community engagement initiatives to identify ways to address increasing diversity. 14. Participates in onboarding and ongoing professional development for new employees from underrepresented groups. 15. Prepares and revise reports, publications, and other resources, as required. 16. Assists in identifying and preparing grant proposals that support equity and diversity efforts at the college 17. Performs other related duties as assigned.
