Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc Celebrates United Nations Day With A Global Passport To The World

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on September 13, 2016 On Saturday, October 22, 2016, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated – Omicron Tau Omega and Chi Omicron Omega Chapters—in partnership with SW Diversity and Inclusion Committee of Houston Community College (HCC) will host an International Festival, “Global Passport to the World” in celebration of United Nations (UN) Day. This multicultural event will take place at the HCC West Loop Campus, 5601 West Loop South Houston, TX 77081 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The “Global Passport to the World” International Festival is a day filled with food, fashion and culture. United Nations representatives, students and community guests are invited to dress in their favorite cultural attire to make the afternoon festive. Dr. Carolyn Davis, Director of Career Planning and Resources at HCC and Global Impact Co-Chairmen from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kari Gray-Smith and Renee Adams, collaborated on the event to educate the community about UN Day. “Mutual respect and the willingness to learn from each other are essential if we are to become one global family,” Adams said. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Omicron Tau Omega Chapter was founded in Spring, Texas in 1985 to serve the north Houston community through the implementation of the regional and international programs. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Chi Omicron Omega Chapter was founded in 2004 to serve the West Houston communities of Katy, Cypress-Fairbanks, Alief, Richmond, and Rosenberg.
