Posted By: Hija Chang on October 17, 2016 Hampton, Va. -- Hampton Players & Company presents Happy Ending and Day of Absence, in the Little Theatre of Armstrong Hall on the Campus of Hampton University on Friday, October 21, 2016 and Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 8:00 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on October 23, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. Happy Ending and Day of Absence written by the theatre legend Douglas Turner Ward are two plays are traditionally presented on the same playbill. In the play Happy Ending, Ellie and Vi are bemoaning their impending unemployment. Mr. Harrison, their employer, has just discovered his wife has been having an affair and wants to divorce her. And when their nephew Junie berates them for their subservient ways, Ellie gives him an earful about life in the real world.
