Educated Mothers: The Benefits of a College Degree & the Impact on Your Kids

Educated Mothers: The Benefits of a College Degree & the Impact on Your Kids
Posted By: Hannah Whittenly on November 28, 2016

A generation ago, men occupied the majority of college seats. However, we now live in a day where women are now encouraged to go for degrees in every single major imaginable. Yet, many still choose to have children alongside upholding that new standard of expectation. For those who do so, they are able to influence not only themselves but their children as well.

Staying Mentally Sharp and Ready For Anything

Mothers who opt to earn their degree are able to keep their focus strong and their minds razor sharp. Irrespective of the degree selected, learning will broaden one's general information base, thus resulting in more informed decisions that can better one's family life. An educated mother is able to manage a family crisis, understand how to find beneficial resources, and help keep her child's brain stimulated with new ideas.

Setting a Good Example

Many children need a little nudge to do well in school. Mothers who commit to earning a degree set an excellent example for their children to enjoy learning. This may lead to better grades and higher aspirations for the children, thus teaching the young ones the importance of education.

Living Stronger and Living Longer

Studies have shown that educated women made better choices in life regarding their health. Educated women tend to be aware of proper nutrition, know the value of exercise, and understand the dangers of smoking. When a mother takes care of herself, she is able to provide a healthier lifestyle for her children. Yes, your children will listen to what you say, but they are more likely to emulate what you do.

Setting healthy guidelines for your children when they are young can add years of quality living to the rest of their lives.

Investing In Yourself

Earning a college degree does not always lead to full-time employment with a company. Many college graduates, especially mothers, have found the way to cut their own path through life with full or part-time self-employment. Many of these women enjoy starting online or traditional brick and mortar businesses and using their creativity to make it grow. A solid education is essential to learning business skills, mastering the Internet, and formulating ideas.

Take Hold of Opportunities

Although a lot of mothers do have degrees, there are a lot of them who either never went to college or they quit once they started having kids. A lot of them may even regret neglecting their education. However, a lot of these women are able to get past that by participating in opportunities available to them on the internet. Some have even been able to earn their masters in higher education online! By doing so, they are benefiting academically while providing their children with the same benefits above just by becoming more educated.

Personal growth should remain a solid fixture in every adult's life. The human brain is able to soak up data and make critical decisions for decades after compulsory education is finished. Earning a bachelor's degree or higher keeps the brain clicking and can bring a richer lifestyle for yourself and every other life you touch. Whether you prefer hardcore academia or just studying another language, learning is the key to happiness, longevity and fulfillment.
