Some great news to share from the NFL that we’re hoping you can post for your readers. The NFL has launched an enhance partnership with MEAC and SWAC aimed at increasing career opportunities for students from HBCUs. The first annual NFL Careers in Football Forum, one of the ancillary events leading into The Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl, will bring together students interested in sports management and entry-level athletic department administrators from MEAC and SWAC colleges and universities to explore potential careers in professional football administration and to network with industry leaders. The forum will include lectures and panel discussions with NFL leadership and club executives, resume and skill-building workshops, a behind-the-scenes look into football operations at The Celebration Bowl, and offer students a unique opportunity to work with the event operations team on game day. The NFL Careers in Football Forum will include a panel including the below presenters on Friday, December 16th 1pm EST at The Omni Hotel, 100 CNN Center NW, Atlanta GA 30303. The Careers in Football Forum is part of the NFL’s broader partnership with the MEAC and SWAC to increase opportunities for ethnic minorities interested in pursuing careers in professional football administration.

NFL-HBCU partnership
•The NFL and the MEAC and SWAC are launching an enhanced partnership aimed at increasing career opportunities for students from HBCUs, as well as celebrating and honoring the history and impact the HBCUs and their players have had on the game. The Careers in Football Forum is part of the NFL’s broader partnership with the MEAC and SWAC to increase opportunities for ethnic minorities interested in pursuing careers in professional football administration. 

•The NFL shares a long history with Historical Black Colleges and Universities.



10% of the Pro Football Hall of Fame is comprised of NFL Legends who attended HBCUs (see list below)
•The Celebration Bowl will serve as a kick off to the league’s enhanced partnership with the MEAC and SWAC that will culminate at Super Bowl with a special celebration of NFL Legends that attended HBCUs. The NFL’s Celebration Bowl events will include:

o Friday, Dec. 16 – NFL Careers in Football Forum - includes sessions with NFL’s Troy Vincent, Vikings’ Kevin Warren, and Browns’ Sashi Brown

o 80 student athletes and entry-level football administrators representing all 23 MEAC and SWAC institutions will participate in the forum.

o Saturday, Dec. 17 – Participants in the NFL Careers Forum to serve as volunteers on game day operations staff

· Continuing the tradition of honoring NFL Legends at Super Bowl, the NFL will recognize the Hall Of Fame players that attended HBCUs in a special way at Super Bowl
