From time to time there will be an article written on trends concerning the resume, as well as articles pertaining to resumes and interviews. So far, we’ve talked about Why you have to submit a resume? What is a resume? Profile Statement, Skills and Professional Experience. This week we will discuss Education. How you should list Education. With that being said, it is always recommended you place your education at the top of your resume if you are a recent graduate with limited experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or if a Master’s graduate and you want to compliment the position you are applying for. Meaning it is directly related to the position you are applying for. If you are a senior job seeker, you will want to place your education at the bottom of the resume after their relevant work experience. In terms of techniques, listing educational achievements follows a simple format. List the name of the degree followed by the formal name of the school and any relevant geographical or departmental references needed. Here is an example: Master of Arts in Management Conflict Resolution University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, May 2007 Industrial Relations Center, Carlson School of Management Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Psychology and Spanish University of Nebraska-Lincoln, May 2002 List the highest or most recent degree first. The only exception to this is if the earlier degree is more targeted to the job or career, put the most relevant one first. Then list the other degrees below, putting the more recent ones first. You do not need to put in high school diploma, with a Bachelors or Master’s degree, or a certificate. Any academic awards or honors are next to be included in this section.
