HU's dance auxilary

Posted By: Jasmine Cooper on February 12, 2006 Hey everyone.. this is Jasmine and I will be attending Howard in the fall. I was wondering, are you allowed to dance on the auxilary your first year? For those majoring in Physician Assistance or Biology, was it overwhelming? Finally, when are the auditions and WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING FOR!!!??? I have dance for the longest of time but never for an auxilary and a lot of the High Schools in GA look for a specific body type, skin complexion, height, and hair length. If they are looking for things that i cant help like that... then I am not sure about the audition.. but in terms of the audition, What do they have you do? Amen bout schools in Ga! Thatz why i just danced with companies and left it at that. Well let's see: i was planning on doing the same thing this fall and i talked to the band director and he says it shouldn't be a problem at least getting on. But im going up there in 2 weeks so i'll be sure to ask him in person and also ask the overseer of auxilary ( i forget her name) and let yall know. Be Easy! ~NIKO~

Girl, I am in the same situation you are. I would like to try out for the Ooh La La dancers at Howard, but I haven't found much info on what they look for. I think that their tryouts are in the Spring though, and they are said to be more lenient than other HBCU teams when it comes to tryouts. We should keep in contact so we can keep each other posted. ~Angi

I too was wondering about that entire process. I was the capt of my school's dance team and in order to keep off that freshman 15 I kno I have to stay active. Not to mention i jus love dancing, so if anyone finds out info about the Bisonette dance team please let me know!
