The American Heart Association is where you can make an extraordinary impact. We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Heart Walk Director in our downtown Pittsburgh office. The Senior Heart Walk Director will provide overall strategic leadership and direction to staff in implementation of Heart Walk events and the _Healthy for Good_ platform, to meet and exceed the aggressive event goals in excess of $1.75M. Responsibilities: + Manages Heart Walk operations, strategic vision, and overall execution of the Pittsburgh Heart Walk. + Leads, inspires, and successfully manages three fundraising and one administrative staff. + Acts as a leader within the office, keeping AHA’s overall strategic goals and mission at the core of all actions. + Manages C-level volunteer leadership, executives, and major sponsors. + Actively partners with Chair and ELT (Executive Leadership Team) committees to ensure that participants are knowledgeable, engaged, and committed to the AHA and its priorities and have an opportunity to make a difference. + Assists staff in prospecting and obtaining corporate sponsorships and leads new businesses development efforts. + Cultivates past, current, and prospective executives, sponsors, and volunteers. + Personally manages select Heart Walk accounts/portfolio and actively attends field meetings with staff. + Accountable for hiring, directing, developing, evaluating and engaging staff. + Builds strong relationships with volunteers, and thrives on the competition of securing the sale. Ensures goals are met and best practices are adhered to. + Collaborates with communications staff to ensure optimum levels of support and coverage for all activities and initiatives. Required Experience/Skills: + BA or BS degree in related field or equivalent experience. + Minimum of two to five years relevant work experience, including proven success in fundraising/sales and staff/volunteer management requiring initiative and resourcefulness in driving towards bold fundraising goals. + Strong volunteer recruitment and management skills, demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service and motivation to business and social leaders. + Ability to set and communicate expectations, coach, recognize and engage direct reports to inspire accountability and meet goals. + Experience with securing large individual gifts. + Ability to plan, work independently and adhere to budget and timeline expectations. + Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills. + Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation and training. + Demonstrated professional with emotional intelligence and the ability to coach and work with diverse group of staff, leadership volunteers, sponsors, donors and others to engage them toward the achievement of fundraising and mission goals. + Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and experience with donor database programs. + Ability to travel and work approximately 75% in the local territory, and 25% in office, and the ability to lift at least 20 lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability and willingness to work irregular hours, including attending evening and weekend meetings or events as appropriate.
