Central State University basketball teams prepare for SIAC Tournament

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on February 28, 2017 The Central State men's and women's basketball teams are set to compete in upcoming Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (S-I-A-C) Tournament. The Lady Marauders earned the No. 1 seed in the SIAC West Division, clinching the school's first divisional title since the school began competing exclusively on the NCAA Div. II level. CSU finished the regular season with a 18-7 overall record and a 12-4 mark in conference play. With the luxury of a first round bye, the Lady Marauders will play on Wednesday at 5:30 pm cst (6:30 pm est) against the winner of the contest between Paine and LeMoyne-Owen. The CSU men's program enters the tournament as the No. 6 seed after a 11-17 regular season record, going 7-10 in the SIAC West Division. The Marauders will face No. 3 seed Benedict. BC enters the tournament after a 15-11 finish to the regular season with a 12-5 mark in SIAC East Division play. CSU and BC met three times during the regular season. CSU won the first meeting while BC took the next two contests. The teams are scheduled to tip-off at 3:15 pm cst (4:15 pm est) on Tuesday. All tournament games will be held in Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
