Beloved religion and philosophy associate professor at Clark Atlanta University, Philip M. Dunston, Ph.D., has been nominated for induction into the prestigious Martin Luther King Jr. Collegium of Scholars at Morehouse College. Dunston, who also serves as chair of CAU's Religion & Philosophy Dept., will be officially inducted to the collegium Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11 a.m., at the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel on the campus of Morehouse College.

"I accept this tremendous honor with great humility," said Dunston.

This year marks the 32nd Annual Collegium of Scholars. Its theme is “Learning to Live the Moral Cosmopolitan Way.” Rev. Dr. William Barber II, president of the North Carolina NAACP and organizer of the Moral Monday Movement, will deliver the keynote address to inductees who will be dressed in full academic or religious regalia.

“This nomination is a further demonstration of Dr.

Dunston’s commitment to engaged learning and scholarship,” Peter Nwosu, Ph.D., provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, said.

Dunston has served for more than 20 years as a CAU faculty member, faculty assembly officer and director of the accelerated interdisciplinary degree program in religion. He also currently serves as coordinator of the C. Eric Lincoln Lectureship Series and co-chair of the University Ceremonials Committee. He is a renowned religious scholar, motivational speaker and pastor. The veteran professor is a member of the American Academy of Religion and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He’s the author of the upcoming book My Thanksgiving for His Giving A Forty-Day Lenten Devotional of Thanksgiving published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.

The entire Clark Atlanta University family is extremely proud of Dr. Dunston and wishes to congratulate him for this high and distinct honor.
