Out of State Relationships: Do they work?

Out of State Relationships: Do they work?
Posted By: ashley davis on February 28, 2006

Hey I want everyones opinion on this one. Well I'm graduating in may and I will probably be leavin Texas and going to Alabama. I got this boy that adores me and I really like him too. We have a blast together. But its like I don't want to get too close to him cuz I know dat Im going out of state real soon. And I know I will meet plenty of new boys. So what r your opinions? What would you do in my situation? Would you continue to be close friends or would you take it to an relationship level?

I met my boyfriend in May. We lived in Michigan and I left for school in South Carolina in August. We decided to start a relationship despite the fact that i was leaving. When August came around he asked me if I wanted to stay in a relationship with him- I agreeded. We're still together, I saw him during thanksgiving break, christmas break, and i'm going home for spring break. It hasn't been easy at all though- I considered breaking up with him more than once. But if you're both willing to be work hard you can make the relationship work. I don't regret my decision.

It is possible to carry on a long distance relationship, it just takes A LOT of work. If you can't be 100% sure that starting a relationship and then moving is something that you can handle, then I would say just be friends. It's a hard decision to make, but only you can make it.

They can work but both of you have to give to the relationship. This is just my opinion but its whatever you think will work for the both of you. I have alot of female and male friends here who have relationships that are long distance and they are Happy and in Healthy relationships. Do what you think is best!

Glad You share Sis.
God is the God of the impossible where there are limits on what we can do as people.
Also Love knows no distance, time etc. Its the 2 people being in sync that is the perplexing part of the equation.
There are many cases of people seperated over great distances like in the military, college etc. and they worked.
What is meant o be is meant to be at the choices of 2 and God.
Peace

It's all based on whether or not you trust yourself. Like you said, u will be meeting lots of new guys but would yuo let that effect your relationship??? If u get into the relationship, make sure you are ready for that b/c it can work as long as the trust is there. But if you think you are going to react to the new guys, then just stay close friends because you may end up hurting the guy or even yourself...... I've been there plenty of times!
