Overview: As the Manager, Data Management at Major League Soccer, you’ll be responsible for updating and maintaining the league’s central data warehouse. You’ll work with internal stakeholders, clubs and partners to manage, ensure the quality of, and oversee usage of data. If you are extremely attentive to details, have a proven track record of successful database management, have experience working with complex SQL databases, and enjoy working with a team of dynamic and motivated professionals (who love soccer!), then this is the job for you.
Responsibilities: - Oversee existing data feeds/API from various data sources (ticketing, digital, social, email, commerce, third-party, partner, etc) and future data integration.
- Manage the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process and ensure all business data are up-to-date and accurate.
- Manage data model within centralized data warehouse (CDW) and establish universal user ID.
- Manage the data integration between CDW and analytics tools (SAS EG, SAS VA), marketing tools (SFMC), e-commerce (Fanatics) and clubs.
- Oversee multiple data management projects and day to day operation with third party vendors.
- Manage and constantly refine process for best identifying data issues (duplicates, bounce backs, financials, etc.)
- Work with several large complex SQL databases and troubleshoot data problems.
- Coordinate with enterprise stakeholders (across the league and all clubs) to capture business requirements and synthesize them into technical product requirements.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Education and Experience- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5-8+ years of experience in managing large and complex data set
Required Skills - Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
- Experience with SAS analytic or data management solution (SQL, Teradata, Oracle, etc.)
- Familiarity with modern database (Consumer, Social, Ticketing, Digital, Social, etc.) and information system technologies
- SQL database management experience
- Prior data integration planning and project management experience
- A collaborative, consensus-building approach
- Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
- High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Demonstrated decision making and problem solving skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Desired Skills - Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
