New Hire Needed: Faculty Appointment in Health Services Research

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on March 28, 2017 The Heller School for Social Policy and Management invites applications and nominations for a faculty position in Health Services Research. We are seeking a recognized scholar whose research and teaching apply to issues of health services research and policy. The specific focus within this broad field is open, and applicants with expertise in areas such as economics, statistics, or medicine are welcome to apply. Individuals with expertise related to episodes/bundles of care are particularly encouraged to apply. The position will be available June 1, 2017, and carries an initial three-year appointment outside the tenure structure at the rank of professor, associate professor, or assistant professor, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications. Alternatively, a position as research professor or professor of practice (of open rank) could be considered. Primary responsibilities include: • Conducting externally-funded research in an area of health services research. • Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and other scholarly and policy outlets. • Participating in government contract work, developing white papers and policy documents. • Grant writing to support both academic and government contract research. • Teaching and advising Master’s and PhD students, as courses are available. • Serving on PhD dissertation committees. • Conducting public engagement activities that advance social justice for vulnerable populations, such as frail elders, or racial, ethnic, gender, and disability minorities. • Designing and implementing strategies for raising research funding to support the educational and scholarly mission of the Institute for Healthcare Systems. Salary Information: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
