Posted By: Hija Chang on April 05, 2017 Reporting to the Senior Executive Director for Development, Columbia College and Arts & Sciences, the Senior Director for Parents Fundraising provides leadership and strategic direction for the Columbia College Parents Fundraising Program, including personal solicitation, volunteer management, direct mail, telemarketing, interactive communications and parent stewardship of the annual fundraising program, and leadership for developing a Parents fundraising initiative for major and principal gift prospects for Columbia College. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. The incumbent identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards parent donors and prospects. S/he manages a portfolio of active parent prospects capable of making gifts in the $5,000 - $250,000 range. Responsibilities include: making personal solicitations, writing proposals and appeals, negotiating gifts, stewarding the prospect relationship, and reporting on visits and solicitation activities as required. B. The incumbent provides strategic direction and oversight for the Parents Fund volunteers, including the Parent Leadership Council, and supervises the Assistant/Associate Director in managing the day-to-day activities of the committee. S/he identifies parent volunteer leaders; recruits and manages parent volunteers; and assists them in their peer solicitation work, including assigning responsibility to volunteers to solicit parents and providing support and communication as needed to enhance the success of their solicitation efforts. C. The incumbent educates, inspires and motivates other fundraising staff about the parents fundraising program and about working with parents. S/he coordinates with the university's major and principal gift teams to develop Parents Fund plans for the parent prospects in their portfolios with a goal of maximizing their philanthropy to Columbia. D. The incumbent manages the Assistant/Associate Director of the Parents' Fund, who is the primary contact for the direct mail/telemarketing program. S/he leads by example, mentors, and motivates the Parents Fund team. S/he establishes benchmarks and monitors progress to ensure staff meets goals. E. The incumbent partners with colleagues in student affairs, communications, and other departments in the College and University to build a comprehensive parents' program for donors, including enhancing engagement opportunities and communications during all four years of their child's time at Columbia. F. The incumbent sets goals for the Parents Fundraising Program and develops and implements strategies to increase revenue and participation annually. S/he supervises the Assistant/Associate Director who works closely with others in the organization to develop direct mail, telemarketing, and interactive marketing campaigns for parents, including social media. S/he ensures the smooth integration of staff efforts in direct marketing, volunteer management, and staff solicitation. Click this link to view and apply for this job!
