Bethune-Cookman University Students Prepare for the 2017 Gatsby Themed Massy Awards

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on May 03, 2017 Students of Bethune-Cookman University Are Honored for Their Participation Within the Mass Communications Department The Mass Communications Department 2017 Massy Awards recognized students for their achievements within the areas of public relations, advertising, broadcast journalism, production and news writing. The awards ceremony was a student driven event. Participants planned, prepared and selected certain criteria for the “Massy’s.” All majors were encouraged to participate with the hope of their work being acknowledged. Interested students submitted their best work and received awards in the categories of: Press Release of the Year; Female/Male of the Year; and Air Check of the Year just to name a few. Students and staff members worked together to create a 1920’s Great Gatsby themed evening. Augustinas Navickas, a public relations student shared, “My most enjoyable moments of the evening included watching my peers receive awards for their hard work and dedication along with seeing the faculty come together and unite for an evening of fun.” Royal Pointe Dance Academy, owned by B-CU Alumna Chaleek Grier also participated in the evening awards ceremony.
