Johnson C Smith University names Dawkins as Assistant Director of Marketing

Smith University’s Division of Institutional Advancement is pleased to announce the appointment of Antia Dawkins as the assistant director of marketing in the Department of University Communications and Marketing. Dawkins is responsible for planning and implementing University branding and marketing strategies, as well as managing publications, social media, digital communications and campus photography. She also coordinates the department’s role in campus and athletic events. The Spartanburg, S.C., native is a two-time graduate of Claflin University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in communications and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. Prior to her appointment at Johnson C. Smith University, Dawkins served as the marketing manager of Lancaster Corporation in Spartanburg. Dawkins has always had a knack for higher education public relations and marketing. From July 2008 to November 2014, she moved through the ranks in the Department of External Affairs and Communications at South Carolina State University (SC State). She served as the public relations specialist and was later promoted to assistant director of public relations. During her tenure, she served as the co-executive producer of SC State’s television show, “A New STATE of Mind.” She also shared the university’s accomplishments as the radio host of a 30-minute radio program entitled, “This Week at SC State.” Dawkins is extremely excited to join the JCSU staff. “I am a product of an HBCU. I’m grateful for the opportunity to showcase all of the wonderful achievements that are happening at JCSU,” Dawkins said. “I understand how important it is to mold and mentor students during their matriculation at a university. It is my duty to help hone JCSU students’ gifts and talents, and prepare them to be leaders in the world,” she stated. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, networking and serving the greater community. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. ### About Johnson C.
