TITLE: Tennis Service Representative (TSR), Northeastern and Northwestern Ohio

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Tennis Service Representative (TSR) Manager

LOCATION: Northeastern and Northwestern Ohio

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Significant evening and weekend work required.


OVERVIEW OF THE USTA/MIDWEST SECTION
The USTA/Midwest Section exceeds 70,000 individual and 930 organizational members. It is the second largest section of the United States Tennis Association, the National Governing Body for tennis in the U.S. The association is comprised of 13 districts in the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin as well as designated counties in West Virginia and Kentucky. The USTA/Midwest Section offers recreational and competitive tennis opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities. SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The primary focus of the Tennis Service Representative (TSR) is to uphold the mission of the USTA in promoting and developing growth of tennis within a designated region. Extensive travel throughout the TSR’s respective geographic territory providing service, consultation and business strategies to their customers. Work with individual facilities / organizations and provide personalized service and support to the people who operate them.

The service and support provided can take many different forms including but not limited to: helping to lead and organize the development of programs and volunteer recruitment; assistance with event marketing; timely awareness of available grants or resources; connection to local or national knowledge experts within a specific field or program area; helping to implement community events with large numbers of participants. The service is delivered through all avenues of the tennis delivery system including but not limited to schools, parks, service organizations or clubs by traveling a minimum of three days per week all year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct regular prospecting, sales calls and meetings with tennis providers and organizations designed to increase tennis participation, play frequency and introducing new participants to tennis by attracting new, former, adaptive and underserved audiences.
2. Responsible for in-depth program development, support, and assistance
3. Provide facilities and organizations (clients) with relevant program information, marketing materials, grant information and other resources as needed and requested.
4. Responsible for administrative reporting, phone calls, data entry, conference calls, webinars and trainings as required
5. Represent the USTA/Midwest Section by attending, coordinating and/or delivering workshops, special events, conferences and booth duties designed to strengthen the delivery system and increase participation in tennis.
6. Responsible for special events, conferences, and booth duties
7. Work in positive and cooperative manner with USTA Section, District and national staff and volunteers
8. Requires extensive travel via automobile
9. Various other job duties as required

SPECIAL PROJECTS:

1. Plan, organize, and implement Youth Tennis events
2. Determine Youth Tennis markets within territory
3. Plan and implement physical education teacher in-services
4. Plan and implement Community Workshops and Coaches Trainings
5. Present at state, district, and regional Conferences and Workshops
6. Assist with the USTA/Midwest Section Junior Team Tennis Championships
7. Assist with booth duties for Professional tournaments (when applicable)
8.



Attend District Board of Directors’ and other meetings as required
9. Attend USTA/Midwest Section meetings and training workshops

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Within the Company Interaction:
Program support & information, exchange of ideas, grant information, media relations, and marketing & membership initiatives up to 15-40% of total working hours

Positions - The TSR will work in cooperation with USTA National, Sectional and District Staff and volunteer network.

Outside the Company Interaction:
Customer base, program support, grant information, marketing, and membership initiatives up to 60 – 85% of total working hours


Positions – The TSR will build relationships with leaders at Schools, Park and Recreation Administrators, Tennis facility Owners, Tennis professionals, YMCA/YWCA employees, Country Club Administration, Corporation administration, ATP Tournament Directors, Service Organization administration, Directors of Tennis, Head Pros, Recreation Supervisors, Directors of Recreation, Superintendents, Head of Physical Education, Physical Education teachers, High School Coaches, Non-Profit Board of Directors, Program Coordinators, Athletic Directors, Principals, Business people (Attorneys and Accountants), Tennis instructors, and club owners in an attempt to grow the game.

TRAVEL
Travel required: 70% of time around geographic territory
Travel destinations: Around geographic territory of the state of Ohio and other locations as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Four-year college degree
• Sports Marketing, Management, Business, or Sales degree – preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Tennis Industry or in a related sales and service position
• Experience in sales – preferred
• Computer experience in Microsoft Office products
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written
• Highly motivated self-starter, enthusiastic personality with the desire and passion to promote and grow tennis
• Must be able to travel extensively and work numerous weekends and nights as required.
• Experience playing tennis – preferred
• Tennis coaching experience – preferred
• Experience teaching tennis – preferred
• USPTA/PTR certification – preferred
• Tennis Club experience - preferred
• USTA Volunteer experience – preferred
