Posted By: Hija Chang on June 06, 2017 FEATURED Content The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Iowa seeks applicants for a Tutoring and Retention Coordinator in its Student-Athlete Academic Services unit. The University of Iowa is a NCAA Division I Power 5 institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 24 varsity sports programs and operates under a “Win. Graduate. Do It Right.” philosophy. Responsibilities The Tutoring and Retention Coordinator is responsible for working with the Director for Retention to provide administrative oversight of the academic support programs for student-athletes; create specialized programs designed to meet the needs of student-athletes identified as academically at-risk; monitor the scheduling and oversight of the tutoring resources provided to all current student-athletes; foster an environment where academic resources are readily accessible to student-athletes; meet weekly with assigned student-athletes in learning deficiencies; provide academic advising to a designated case load of students; compile and analyze statistical data on select student-athlete populations; and conduct initial and continuing training for tutorial staff.
