$10,000 Gaines Award for rising African American fiction writers

The 11th Annual Ernest Gaines Award for Literary Excellence is currently accepting submissions of fiction by rising African-American authors until the August 15 deadline. Both novels and short-story collections published in 2017 as well as galleys of forthcoming 2017 publication are eligible to win the $10,000 award which honors Louisiana native Ernest Gaines and his contribution to literature. The winner will be announced in November, followed by the award ceremony in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on January 18, 2018. Criteria for submissions, entry forms, and more information about the Gaines Award are available at www.ernestjgainesaward.org.
