Posted By: William Jackson on June 25, 2017 The Dopest Things about WordCamp Jacksonville 2017 by William Jackson and Emma Kent "How To Be Dope on Social Media" 1 The breakfast and lunch for the 2 days was filling and plentiful. 2. The organization and smooth transition of the sessions were scheduled appropriately. 3. There was great diversity in user, developer, coder and other areas of interest for those in attendance. 4. Selection of the speakers with experience, knowledge and skills was dope. 5. The diversity in gender, culture and color of the speakers was wonderful. Always brings out the best in a conference when there is diversity. 6. The more diversity the better in speakers and attendance. 7. The extension of professional, educational, and industry backgrounds of the speakers and those attending was relevant. 8. The measure of coverage for users, developers, coders and educators allowed for cross disciplinary extension added to the technical development. 9. Panel discussions were relevant and the information gained can be readily applied to real world applications. 10. The facilities at Keiser University were awesome. Comfortable atmosphere, the staff was warm and friendly and the security staff very professional and approachable for questions. 11. Nice to see the administrative staff involved and warmly greeting the conference participants. 12. Networking opportunities during the conference was a great opportunity to share and collaborate. 13. Great to see youth, teens and young adults attending and contributing to the sharing of information. There was a good generational representation. 14. PowerPoint presentations were engaging, informational and easy to follow. Many posted their information online. 15. The Kids Camp was exciting, good to see youth wanting to learn about WordPress and the potential to build with it. 16. "Is your site cross device and platform ready and align with mobile / wireless technology." 17. The future needs to have youth, teens and young adults involved to help WordPress grow. 18. WordPress needs to adapt for children, youth and teens to allow them to share their stories. 19. The combination and integration of WordPress and Social Media allows for the growth of Professional Learning Networks and Communities. 20. HBCU institutions need to allow their students to attend WordCamps to grow into developers, coders, programmers, bloggers and entrepreneurs.
