~The Way I Do My Thing~

Posted By: ericka richardson on March 09, 2006 I'd like to take the time to write down What I'm feelin right now I hear sounds In my head telling me to stay Or go for a little while and come back another day There's people who think about it, and there's people who do There's people who dream about it, but me, I pursue To do the things that comes to mind No time to watse time So I tend to find My own way to grind And don't hate because I'd rather read a book than point a nine I'm the type that got my own style I lead and people follow because I'm straight up wild That's why my life is so hot, and yours is so mild I stick to who I am, I stand proud with my style and my smile All the while these people who try to change me They may be The one I decide to come out and speak freely to And when I do, they see me As unruly Because I decide to be the One and only To stand up to what I believe Don't judge me by my clothes or the preference I see Get to know me, found out exactly who I am personaly No inspiration, me is who I aspire to be And understand that the way I live is my choice I want nothing to do with you if you're raising your voice Explaining the complexity of my mind will make your dry thoughts moist So I come to you calmly Showing how a dry pond gets rained on and is now a great sea And what used to have you lost is now plain to see The way I do my thing is by just being me By: Ericka Richardson If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
