Job Overview: The Office of Tax Compliance seeks a highly organized and motivated Tax Accountant to perform a wide variety of tax compliance services for the University in a fast-paced environment. The primary purpose of the Office of Tax Compliance is to maintain tax compliance and reporting for Drexel University and all of its subsidiaries and related entities. Essential Functions: -Communicate with University departments in gathering information required for the preparation of IRS Form 990 and Form 990-T for Drexel University and its subsidiaries. -Preparation of IRS Form 990 and Form 990-T for Drexel University and its subsidiaries. -Preparation of IRS Form 1120 and 1065 for Drexel University and related entities. -Review of Independent Contractor Determination Worksheets for compliance with IRS rules on the proper classification of workers. -File annually the Charitable Registrations with the various states. -File annually State Unrelated Business Income Tax Returns with various states. -Prepare and file with the City of Philadelphia the Philadelphia Amusement and Use & Occupancy Tax Returns. -File Sales and Use Tax Return and insure timely payment. Assist the University with Sales and Use Tax questions and maintaining sales tax exemption forms posted on Drexel One. Prepare applications for Sales and Use Tax Exemptions in various status, track current Sales Tax Exemptions Certificates and timely file to renewal applications for Drexel University and its subsidiaries. -Prepare and file Business Privilege Tax Returns, Business Property Tax Returns and Real Estate Exemptions and Real Estate Tax Bills in various states. -Back-up to the International Tax Administrator with tax issues for non-resident alien faculty, students and scholars in his/her absence. -Back-up to the International Tax Administrator with Glacier Tax Prep software for non-resident alien students used in the preparation of the student's non-resident alien federal tax return in his/her absence. -Tax Research regarding filing requirements in the U.S. and international tax matters. Research and answer tax questions for faculty and staff. -Respond to notices from the IRS, various state and local tax authorities concerning tax matters. -Prepare Forms 1099-R and make federal tax deposits as necessary. -Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision but communicate/coordinate progress on a regular basis to keep the Director, Tax apprised of the progress on all assignments. -Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and must prioritize well and focus on completion of tasks and objectives while under the stress of a demanding work schedule while maintaining a positive and objective approach and attitude. -Monitor and maintain Tax Office Calendars to make sure all tax filings are filed timely. -Extra hours required during tax season and may be required outside tax season to meet tax filing deadlines. -Participate and assist in daily projects and special projects as needed by the Director, Tax. -Complete other duties as assigned by management.
