After defeating rival school Fayettevile State University in a 45-42 nail-biter last week at the 20th Annual Down East Vikings Football Classic in Rocky Mount, the Elizabeth City State University football team are set to host Johnson C. Smith for its annual "Take A Kid to the Game Day" Saturday, September 23 in Roebuck Stadium.

Admission for children 17 and under is free.

ECSU enters Saturday's contest with a 2-1 record; while the Golden Bulls enter the contest at 0-3 on the season. The Vikings are outgaining its opponents in total yardage 1161 to 1073; while scoring 38 points less than their opponents after three contests played.

ECSU averages 111.3 rushing yards per game, but also give up 203.3 yards per game to its opponents. Senior quarterback Daquan Neal is third in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association in yards per game with 260.7 and second in the league in touchdowns scored with eight.



Junior wide out SayQuan Holder sets at fifth in the conference in receiving yards per game with 70.7; while junior linebacker Miacah Cooper sets at second in the league in tackles per game with 10.3. Senior lineman Jerrell Timmons leads the team and is tied fourth in the CIAA with two sacks on the season.

Special teams, senior place kicker Josh Laverty sets at third in the league in field goal points with 19 and is tied for first in field goal percentage with 100 percent field goals made.

For Johnson C. Smith, Terrance Ervin leads the charge in rushing with 34.67 yards per game; while Carlo Thomas leads the Golden Bulls defensively with 30 tackles on the season.
