Posted By: How May I Help You NC on October 04, 2017 The School of Education (SOE) at the University of California, Davis, invites applicants for an assistant/associate rank search in Education with a specialization in Social Justice Youth Development. We seek applicants who bring qualitative and community based youth participatory action research approaches to the critical understanding of education and learning both in and out of school settings. The candidate’s expertise may be in education associated with urban, rural, or suburban communities, as aligned with their research agenda and/or approaches. Of particular interest is the manner in which school community partnerships develop between Chicanx/Latinx youth and adults at the intersection of race, class, gender and sexuality. The ideal candidate will possess interdisciplinary training in allied fields (i.e. Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, etc.), a social justice education research agenda that centers on the challenges and promises of California’s ethnically diverse youth populations coupled with knowledge of high school Ethnic Studies curriculum requirements. Understanding of and demonstrated ability to apply principles and practices associated with Critical Pedagogy in the university classroom are highly desired, as is the demonstrated ability to engage in collaborative initiatives within and beyond the university setting. This position is funded through a UC Davis Hiring Investment Program effort. It is one of two funded positions designed to create a cluster of faculty to develop links between the School of Education and the Chicana/o Studies Department. The second position is hired through the Chicana/o Studies Department in a parallel search. These are separate positions that when hired will be expected to work together to bridge the School of Education faculty (SOE) to the Chicana/o Studies Department, developing curricular and programmatic collaborations. The review of applications will begin on October 27, 2017. The position will remain open until filled. Click this link to view and apply for this job!
