Alcorn State University issues game day reminders, to celebrate military, veterans and first responders
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on November 02, 2017

Alcorn State University will recognize the contributions of all those who serve in uniform and help ensure our nation’s vitality. At its 2 p.m. football game Saturday versus Alabama A&M in Spinks-Casem Stadium, the university will celebrate and honor military service members, veterans and first responders.

All military personnel, veterans and first responders (law enforcement, fire & EMT/paramedics, etc.) will be admitted to the game for free at all gates with proper identification (D.O.D. ID Card, VA ID Card, badge, etc.). Family members and other guests must purchase a ticket.

Additionally, the university will welcome Mr. Eddie Hargo, a 94-year old World War II veteran, university high school alumnus and former employee to serve as Honorary Team Captain. Mr. Hargo is one of the few remaining members of our nation’s “Greatest Generation” and recently participated in an Honor Flight to Washington, DC to visit the World War II Memorial dedicated to their service and sacrifice.

Temperatures are expected to be abnormally warm Saturday. Fans are encouraged to take appropriate precautions to prepare for the heat to enjoy a successful game day experience.

RV PARK
The RV Park opens at 8 a.m. on Thursdays before game day and closes at 12 Noon on Sunday.
Cars, bicycles, golf-carts, or other motorized vehicles are not allowed at any time to park on the grass or block the fire lanes within the park. Upon departure, patrons are encouraged to place bagged and tied trash at the left side of their pad and not pour grease in the water drains at the RV Park.

TAILGATING
Tailgate setup is allowed on the Thursday prior to the game from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and all day on Friday and Saturday. Tailgating patrons are strongly reminded to refrain from bringing tents, frames, grills, etc.

prior to the designated timeframes. Tailgaters must present and display the appropriate tailgate pass(es) in order to set up. The University will not be responsible for tents/grills in place prior to the scheduled time. All tailgate setups must be removed by midnight Saturday or they will be disposed.

GIVEAWAYS
As a part of our continuing celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the opening of Spinks-Casem Stadium and Dwight Fisher Field, the first 250 total fans to enter the stadium through Gates 2-11, will receive a free 25th Anniversary Replica Stadium.

BRAVE WALK
The football team’s “Brave Walk” to Spinks-Casem Stadium will start at 11:00 a.m. near the entrance of K.L. Simmons Industrial Technology (I.T.) Building on Alcorn Drive. Fans and alumni are asked to line up on either side of the sidewalk to welcome and cheer the coaches and players as they arrive to the football stadium and the home locker room.

ARTIFICAL NOISEMAKER POLICY
The university has implemented an Artificial Noisemaker Policy for the safety of our guests, students, and employees. Artificial noisemakers (including but not limited to air horns, bullhorns, megaphones, etc.) of any kind are prohibited from use in Spinks/Casem Stadium.
Finally, all other existing gameday rules and regulations remain in effect. Fans should review the Fan Guide and stay tuned to the University website and Athletics website for any updates or changes.
