Alcorn State University recognized amongst top colleges in America with lowest loan debt for families

Alcorn State University recognized amongst top colleges in America with lowest loan debt for families

Alcorn State University is being praised for being one of the nation’s most affordable universities for parents.

Alcorn is ranked number 202 on The Student Loan Report’s Top 250 Colleges With the Lowest Student Loan Debt for Parents list. The Student Loan Report aims to cover all student loan news, around the nation and internationally, so borrowers can stay informed about the debt that has a substantial impact on their lives.

President Alfred Rankins Jr. expressed pride in the University for offering an affordable education. He spoke about caring for the financial excellence of students and parents.

“Alcorn strives to not only look out for our students academic well being, but we also care dearly about protecting them from lingering debt once they graduate.

We encourage students to take advantage of all available scholarship and grant opportunities to make paying for college a success.”

Alcorn was one of only two and the only public HBCU to be highlighted in the report. The Student Loan Report used data licensed from Peterson's to calculate the average Parent PLUS debt per undergraduate student for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Alcorn State University’s enrollment soared seven percent in fall 2017, boosted by a record 1,282 student freshman class. In the mid-September release of U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 Best Colleges Rankings, Alcorn was ranked as the number 19 best overall HBCU in the nation on its “Best HBCUs” List.
