In an Unfulfilling Career? 3 Signs You Should Go Back to School

In an Unfulfilling Career? 3 Signs You Should Go Back to School
Posted By: Anica Oaks on November 21, 2017

A career is a lifelong commitment and thus it should create a very conducive environment for you. However, it is not uncommon for an individual to find themselves in a wrong career. The initial struggle that you go through when in a wrong career is denial. You tend to convince yourself that the distraction and boredom you experience at your workplace is a normal thing. With time, you will realize that your feelings are a sign of something serious. You may not be the only one experiencing these feelings of not being in the right place when in their careers. A lot of people like you all over the world are having several unanswered questions before choosing their career since they were not sure of their next move. In this regard, when you get into a wrong career, sooner than later you will start to experience strange warning signs that you are not on the right track. Here are the top three signs to warn you that you are pursuing a wrong career and that you should consider starting again by going back to school.

Constant Negativity about Your Career
According to experts in career guidance in a higher learning institution such as the California College in San Diego, your career should bring joy in you despite the normal hectic times you face on an ordinary day. When you find yourself constantly addressing everything surrounding your career in a negative perspective; that is a warning sign you are sailing in the wrong boat. Despite being in a hectic and stressful career, it doesn’t demand that you are always negative about it. Whenever you have negative views about everything in your workplace, your productivity will be slipping too. With such constant negativity, you even end up lacking motivation to complete your daily work tasks, you will find yourself in a lot of disciplinary cases and other unwanted involvements. In fact, there is a high likelihood that you will not be in good terms with the authority. Whenever you experience this, you have the reason to go back to school to pursue the right career.

Persistent Distraction at Work
There is no much discomfort at work than when you are always getting distracted and lacking the motivation to perform your duties. People in wrong careers are always concentrating on the minor activities that are not even part of their duty throughout the day just to pass the time. Such people are ever anticipating for the good moments during their duty. If you are always looking forward to get to lunch, conferences or trips rather than the important office work, then you are in the wrong career. Distraction is a reflection that you are not happy with your career. In this regard, your job is literally driving you insane. In as much as you have to consider your job on a long-term basis, you should reconsider starting afresh on a different lane by going back to school to build your most preferred career.

Suboptimal Performance
Whenever your objective of doing the job is just to see it done, then there is a problem in your career. The best of your performance is achieved when you take pride in your work. In most cases, people in wrong careers do not give their best in whatever they do. They feel like they are being overworked or they are just helping out. It is even worse when you have a feeling that your current career doesn’t deserve your attention. You are in your work and you know very well that you aren’t giving the best you can, then this is a clear sign that you are in the wrong career and the best move is to go back to the drawing board and nurture your right career in school.

The above signs need not to be disregarded. Take them seriously and figure out what you want to be. Strive to involve yourself in opportunities that are closer to your preferred career. There is nothing satisfying than when you are doing your job with passion and all attention it deserves. Since most careers are based on the education you acquired, changing a career demands that you go back to school. It is therefore advisable that you heed these warning signs whenever they are present.
