Kaaliya Williams (So./Richmond, VA) finished with 16 points and eight rebounds and Kelsee Arnold (Jr./Fayetteville, GA) added 14 points as Saint Augustine's University rallied in the second half to top Shaw University for the first time since 2010 in a CIAA women's basketball contest between crosstown rivals at packed Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Kamya Renwicks (So./Baltimore, MD) added 10 points for the Lady Falcons, who trailed 44-32 with 2:23 in the third period but outscored the Lady Bears 29-15 the rest of the game for the win. Paulette Addison (Sr./Wilmington, NC) swished two free throws with 16.2 seconds left for a 60-59 Lady Falcons' lead and Quiera Gilmore (R-So./Charlotte, NC) added another free throw with eight seconds on the clock for a two-point lead.

The Lady Falcons (1-2 Southern Division, 5-13 overall) clinched the win when they rebounded a Lady Bears' miss as time expired. They celebrated on their side of the court after beating the Lady Bears (1-2 Southern Division, 5-15 overall) for the first time in 17 games.

Gilmore scored six points and Kiana Clark (So./Queens, NY) tallied five points and four rebounds.

Angela Caraballo (So./Richmond, VA) had four points and four rebounds and Tomisha Davis (Sr./New Bern, NC) snatched five rebounds for the Lady Falcons, who outscored the Lady Bears 38-20 in the paint. Many of those points came off Shaw miscues as the Lady Falcons scored 19 points off 21 Lady Bears' turnovers.

Spurred by the home crowd inside Emery Gymnasium, the Lady Falcons jumped out to a 19-6 lead – sparked by eight points from Arnold - at the end of the first period. The Lady Falcons cooled off in the second period and the Lady Bears took advantage, moving in front 25-24 at halftime.

It appeared the Lady Bears would pull away in the second half when their lead reached 12 points, but the Lady Falcons scored 12 straight points between the third and fourth periods to pull even at 44-44 with 8:58 remaining in the game. The lead changed hands five times before Addison put the Lady Falcons ahead for good with two free throws in the final seconds.

Tahniya Sweatt and Klintisha Martin both scored 13 points for the Lady Bears. Sweatt and Lervencia Johnson-Tyler each grabbed eight rebounds.

The Lady Falcons head to Salisbury, N.C., on Saturday, Jan. 27, to visit Livingstone College at New Trent Gymnasium. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
